ONDREJ BELICA (CZ): Spatial art, architecture

  • Hektor 65 Calle San Isidro Labrador Teguise, CN, 35539 Spain (map)

Ondrej is an artist and architect working at the intersection of art, architecture, and design.

He creates site-specific installations, objects, and spatial projects tailored to a specific place, its context, and its unique needs. His work ranges from standalone objects to larger structural interventions across interiors, public spaces, and landscapes.

Each project is developed individually — from initial concept through to final realization — often in close collaboration with artists, architects, companies, and private clients.

His approach is grounded in a deep sensitivity to space, material, and atmosphere, with a consistent focus on minimalism and contextual thinking.

LAND ART AS A TRANSFORMATION OF PLACE

I am interested in landscape as a living system rather than a backdrop.
Water, soil, wind, sunlight, shade, stone, vegetation, animals and human activity are constantly shaping one another. In Lanzarote, these relationships are particularly visible. Water is precious. Shade becomes a physical necessity. Wind moves soil and seeds. Stone protects. Vegetation creates new conditions for life.

These elemental relationships are what interest me. I see land art as a possibility to enter these relationships with a minimal gesture — not to decorate the landscape, but to participate in it.

A work might retain water, create shade, protect soil, provide habitat, guide movement or simply reveal a relationship that was already there but remained unnoticed.
For me, an environmental artwork does not necessarily need to illustrate an ecological issue. It can become a small act of care towards a living place.

I imagine the final work as something between sculpture, architecture and landscape.
It could be a structure that slows and retains water. A place of shade that creates a new microclimate. A stone intervention that protects and regenerates soil. A habitat for plants, insects or animals. A spatial gesture that creates a new place for people to stop, observe and experience the farm.

It could also be something I cannot yet imagine. And it could be a serie of little interventions.
What matters is that the work grows from the conditions of Hektor rather than being imposed upon them.

Its physical language should remain minimal, while its effect can be open-ended.
