Planet Driven Art
Artist and activists in residence
Call 2027
Hektor is a safe space on the inspiring island of Lanzarote for artists, activists, guests, and friends. For 2027, our core focus is planet-driven art, and we invite creators who are passionate about making a change, reducing environmental impact, and fostering a more beautiful world. Over the years, we have welcomed more than 65 artists from 16 different countries, including talented creators like Tanja Haramincic, Stefaan De Croock, Maarten De Naeyer, Julian Bender, Sonia Rentsch, Amit Berman, and Celina August Schumm.
Who are we looking for?
We offer working space to artists and activists whose work aligns closely with our values of land regeneration and sustainable living. For our 2027 call, we are particularly interested in welcoming artists who want to share their vision of a better world.
We welcome you whether you prefer to work independently, bring an artistic partner, or thrive surrounded by other artists.
The experience and facilities
You will stay in one of our recently renovated 30-40 square meter private suites, which include a kitchenette, a dining area, an en-suite bathroom, a double bed, and decor from our art collection.
Your stay includes access to:
A shared workspace (taller) equipped with an extra kitchen.
Our extensive grounds, featuring a shared pool, relaxing spots, a picking garden, and 12,000m2 of farmlands.
Our expanding animal kingdom, Auchón, where you can meet our beloved rescue animals.
A physical and online library containing literature on our values and the island.
We encourage you to leave your daily work at home, reduce your screen and meeting time, and truly enjoy the routine of the farm. To help you thrive during your stay, we will provide you with tools for organizing your residency, including how to set up an AIR routine to secure your creative work.
While not mandatory, we extend a weekly invitation to all residents to work on the land and experience farm life firsthand. As a planet-based guest house, we require all residents to eat only vegetarian food (no meat or fish) on the premises.

An invitation to share your vision
You're invited to share your thoughts on planet-driven art, activism, and making a difference.
We think that engaging with others helps grow a passion for art and what you make. It's vital to us that artists, guests, and we can meaningfully connect.
While the suites are completely private, our farm areas—and the studio during our collaborative May to July residency season—are spaces for mingling, chatting, and making connections.
We're also keen to introduce you to individuals, groups, or organizations on the island who could be beneficial for your projects. We'll assess your specific requirements more closely after your selection.
Expectations
Expectations & Openness Openness is a key value to participating in an AIR at Hektor. We want all our guests to feel comfortable around the place and each other, and interact when appropriate.
We do not expect any work donations, but ask the following:
Acknowledgment: Please acknowledge Hektor for work produced during or as a result of the residency on your website (including a link), social media (including a clearly visible tag), and print media (including a link to our website).
Photography & Print: All pictures taken of the property should mention Hektor (with a link on your website and tags on social media). Print publication is not allowed unless there is a written confirmation (via e-mail only) from us.
Your Artist Webpage: We will create a dedicated webpage for you as an artist prior to your arrival and update this after your stay. We kindly ask you to provide us with qualitative material to feature.

Our values
Planet-Driven & Vegan: We are a planet-driven guest house. We strongly believe we have to reduce our impact, definitely on an island like Lanzarote. That’s why we serve vegan food (primarily from our garden), try to limit our use of energy, and re-use our water.
Diversity & Inclusion: We want Hektor to be as diverse as the ground and the house allows us to be.
Making a Change: We want to make a change with this project and show we take steps towards a better world. That can be any kind of step, no matter how small.
Open Communication: We believe in an open and direct communication.
Selection and payment procedure
Our selection procedure begins with a simple preregistration, which opens in June 2027, with the first selections taking place during the Summer (from August on)
Fast Evaluation: We require 15 working days to evaluate your complete application, earliest starting in August 2027.
Video Call: Accepted applications will be followed by a video call to ensure mutual expectations align before sending a letter of agreement.
Updated Payment Structure: To secure your residency, a 50% deposit is required at the decision-making point, with the remaining 50% due 60 days prior to your arrival.
Hold Your Block: If you are waiting on a grant to fund your residency, you can utilize our new "Hold Your Block" option for a €100 non-refundable fee (available up to 4 months prior to your arrival).
Extra guests at 29,- per night.
