Andrea Kuczer is an architect, ceramic artist and designer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her practice moves between architecture, ceramics, drawing and material experimentation, focusing on domestic objects, moulds, spatial thinking and handmade processes. Through Obra de Mano, she explores the relationship between utility, material research and contemporary craft. She co-founded El Tanque Taller, a collaborative ceramic workspace and teaching studio in Buenos Aires. Her work combines architectural precision with an intuitive and tactile approach to making.
Andrea graduated in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires (FADU) and has also studied filmmaking, painting, drawing and ceramics.

My practice is based in Buenos Aires and has been strongly shaped by architecture and by working in a large city. At Hektor, I would like to use the opportunity of being in a very different environment to let the landscape and nature of Lanzarote become part of my work.

I work mainly with ceramics, plaster moulds and slip casting. I would like to explore the island through these techniques, taking forms, textures and traces from the landscape and translating them into moulds and ceramic objects. I am interested in the contrast between reproducing something natural through a mould and the handmade nature of the process: even when a form can be repeated, every piece is slightly different.

I also like the idea of the mould as a way of recording a place. Moulds made in Lanzarote could later be used elsewhere, allowing forms from the island to travel and appear in other contexts.

I would also love to learn from local ceramic practices and open the process to others through a simple mould-making workshop with residents and people from the local community. Teaching and sharing ceramic techniques is something I genuinely enjoy, and I would like this exchange to become part of the project itself.
