Hannah makes mostly prints and paintings, and sometimes things from paper and clay. They hold an MFA from UMass at Amherst and BA from Smith College, and were awarded a Kahn Foundation Fellowship in interdisciplinary studies in 2006 and a Schultz Foundation Grant for biology research in 2003. She's been a resident artist at Studios@MASS MoCA, Azule, Horned Dorset Colony, and Turkey Land Cove Foundation. Their work has been exhibited internationally, in several shows across the UK and at Manhattan Graphics Center. After many years teaching studio art, she now spends her days with students of all ages at the Mead Museum at Amherst College.
In my time at Hektor, I plan to work on a series in printmaking (monotype, no press needed) from exclusively reused materials as and on handmade paper. This includes intaglio printmaking on tetrapak plates, making sculptural bas-relief prints with paper pulp and natural materials found locally, and imagery inspired by local plant life and the environment on the finca and other parts of the island. It may also include experiments with hand-building small vessels from natural materials and paper pulp clay.
