HEIDEWINNE (FR/BE): Permanent installation

Embroidery brings together so much of Heidewinne’s past and present. She gets to apply many of the skills she learned, as well as to show her own vision on color and design. And the magpie in her gets to work with all the bling it wants.

Throughout her education and professional career she has worked within a whole set of craftsmanship and arts: drawing, lithography, millinery, bird taxidermy and embroidery, which she has learned at the école Lesage in Paris. This training was a lifelong dream.

For her, all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place with this technique: she gets to draw, combine the colors she wants, combine textures, create, … Her hands determine the pace and speed: she cannot accelerate or hurry, it requires a relatively slow rhythm.

For Heidewinne embroidery is storytelling, or interpreting someone’s tale. Every work takes you on an adventure of discovery through different settings of materials and views.

It is her inner magpie that gathers all these treasures you will encounter with her work. Gathering and hiding all these shining pearls, sequins and thread in a colorful work that will never be minimalistic is her signature: discover the improvisations of Heidewinne’s world.

Inspired by the house, farmlands, island, volcanoes, and most importantly, the friendship between the artist and the founders of Hektor, Heidewinne has created an embroidery artwork that embodies life at the farm. Her eclectic approach to art allows viewers to witness an everlasting series of elements, giving the work a kaleidoscopic quality.
