So we promised new recipes every month, and here we are. If you’ve finished cooking everything from the zines, time to make these. Or if you just want to try out that infamous egg salad: the time is now.

What’s with the olive trees different kind of leaves?

I kind of got obsessed with Ask Nature last week.

As you might know or not, we have been planting quite some olive trees over the last years (211 to be precise, often thanks to our guests). During a visit to Hektor, someone asked why the leaves differ in colour on them.

Just Ask Nature, and see how incredibly intelligent these plants are: like tea*, olive trees have sun leaves and shade leaves, for all different reasons.

*Quick fun fact, Matcha is made of shade leaves of tea plants.

Finally some progress when it comes to bull rights?

You can debate whether this is sufficiently good news or not, but I believe it’s a step in the good direction. In March, Mexico city decided violence and killing of bulls is no longer allowed during bull fights.

Are these sensitive animals meant for human pleasure? Probably not, but these measures have been taken:

no sharp objects that can harm the bull can be used
bulls can no longer be killed
there is a time limit for how long bulls can be in the arena

Protein shakes: a mouthful of yikes?

OK, I’ll admit: I do drink a protein shake every now and then. After the gym, or even after a day of work on the farm with loads of power activity. I keep telling myself it’s to restore my muscles, but let’s admit I don’t mind some extra muscle building either.

The problem: they are often made of poor quality proteins, taste weird or are very sugary. The Swiss company Cosaic seems to be creating some nice new products that might enhance these shakes. Looking forward to try!
